Details:
Handmade paper as art and craft is little known. Even though paper has been around for 2,000 years, contemporary hand papermakers work in relative obscurity, often unknown, except to other papermakers. To show the beauty and diversity of papermaking, eight papermakers were paired with fifteen printmakers to feature original prints made on handmade paper. A call was put out to hand papermakers around the country and papers were sent from North Carolina, Minnesota, Maryland, Vermont, New Mexico, New Hampshire and Texas. In all, eight artisans provided enough paper for fifteen PrintHouston printmakers from Kansas, Colorado, New York, and Texas to participate in this exhibition.
