Details:
This month’s raffle celebrates minerals, those beautifully organized chemicals you can hold in your hand. Their color, structure, and geometry are best described by Dr. Al Pribula, our mineral curator, as “pretty chemicals with excellent manners".
Your full mineral set includes:
- Amethyst cluster — a quartz variety colored by trace iron and natural irradiation
- Fluorite obelisk — showing isometric crystal structure and vivid color zoning
- Fluorite pyramid — cut to emphasize cubic symmetry and internal banding
- Agate bookends — microcrystalline quartz with concentric banding
- Two quartz crystals — one natural point and one polished prism, both illustrating hexagonal crystal structure, conchoidal fracture, and internal growth features

The winner will need to be able to pick up their prize at the Natural History Society of Maryland’s Overlea, MD, location, at a date and time mutually agreed upon. Shipping is not available unless the winner agrees to pay for shipping.
