Details:
Join us for a dynamic, hands-on workshop with Red Wing artist Maryellen Murphy where science meets storytelling and creativity!
Students will build science literacy and ecosystem awareness while encouraging reading, storytelling and artmaking. Through engaging videos, picture books, and storyboards, students will discover real-life "Young Superheroes" who are leading positive climate solutions in their own communities.
This three-hour workshop will consist of two 90-minute sections with a break for snack in between.
In the first half of the workshop, students will dive into the world of Oceans, Lakes, and Rivers. In the second half, we’ll shift focus to the "lungs of the earth" as we explore Oxygen, Forests, and Deforestation locally and across the globe.
Each section balances learning with playful reflection time. Using a specialized 6-sided zigzag folding book, students will respond to prompts and capture their ideas using a vibrant array of art supplies, including markers, pens, pencils, and water-based media.
