Shaping Sound: The Hand-built Guitar is an immersive exhibit celebrating the artistry, precision, and passion behind handcrafted acoustic guitars. Experience the artistry of today’s finest luthiers. This show features a stunning collection of hand-built guitars, each a testament to the skill and dedication of master luthiers. Visitors will explore the meticulous process of guitar making – from the careful selection of tonewoods to the delicate bracing and intricate inlay work. Displays offer insight into the craftsmanship and innovation that shape these instruments. Minnesota State College Southeast’s Guitar Repair and Building Program, based in Red Wing, has contributed to the exhibit a variety of materials that illustrate key stages of the guitar-building process. Visitors will gain insight into the transformation of raw wood into finely crafted instruments through detailed photos, descriptions, and hands-on examples provided by the college. Several of the luthiers featured in the exhibit are alumni and former instructors of Minnesota State College Southeast’s Guitar Program.
