The Friends of Madrona Marsh (FOMM) is a non-profit, community-based volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration, education, and aesthetics of the Madrona Marsh Preserve. Working in coordination with the City of Torrance, FOMM acts as stewards and advocates for the preserve. They create programs, sponsor activities, and conduct events that promote understanding, enjoyment, and preservation of the marsh ecosystem. Volunteers play a crucial role, leading tours as docents, assisting with Nature Center projects, and participating in habitat restoration efforts such as planting native species and removing invasive plants. FOMM also focuses on environmental education, offering programs for various age groups and maintaining a native plant demonstration garden. The organization has been a vital support for the Madrona Marsh Preserve for over forty years, contributing thousands of volunteer hours and fundraising to support its ongoing conservation and educational mission.
