Details:
Brown Bag Book Club is a traditional, casual-atmosphere discussion group that takes place during a late-lunch hour. Books are recently published adult fiction and nonfiction titles, as well as the occasional classic or backlist novel. It meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm at the Eastern Branch. Books can be signed out from the Eastern Branch on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The June 24 title is Raw Dog by Jamie Loftus — Hot dogs. Poor people created them. Rich people found a way to charge fifteen dollars for them. They’re high culture, they’re low culture, they’re sports food, they’re kids' food, they’re hangover food, and they’re deeply American, despite having no basis whatsoever in America's Indigenous traditions. You can love them, you can hate them, but you can’t avoid the great American hot dog.
We strive to make our programs inclusive to all. For accommodation requests, please reach out to reference@davenportlibrary.com.
