Details:
The Pottery Program at Callanwolde offers a variety of classes for different skill levels, each emphasizing creativity while adhering to important safety guidelines.
**Beginning Wheel (POT 12 - Baisiwala)** introduces entry-level students to the fundamentals of wheel throwing, glazing, and firing, focusing on small forms like cups, bowls, and saucers. The class includes a $98 supply fee covering a bag of clay, glazes, and firing space, though students must provide their own tools.
**Intermediate Wheel (POT 18 - Ashcraft Berman)** builds on this foundation, requiring students to have completed two beginner-level classes. Participants will explore advanced techniques for creating handles, bowls, and lidded jars, again with a $98 supply fee for materials and firing.
Additionally, the **Beginning Handbuilding (POT 04 - Gould)** class teaches students how to create ceramic forms using pinch, coil, and slab techniques without a potter’s wheel. This course also follows the same supply fee structure and tool requirements as the other pottery classes.
All classes require that work produced be completed in the Pottery Program studios, ensuring a focused and supportive creative environment.
