Details:
Join our pottery classes designed for beginners, featuring two distinct options: the **Beginning Wheel** class and the **Beginning Handbuilding** class. In the Beginning Wheel class (POT 09), students will learn essential techniques for throwing, glazing, and firing pottery, focusing on small forms like cups, bowls, and saucers. Participants will also familiarize themselves with important safety guidelines in the ceramics studio. The Beginning Handbuilding class (POT 02) emphasizes the art of creating ceramic forms without a potter’s wheel, using techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab building, while also covering safety procedures.
Both classes include a tuition fee of $98, which serves as a pass-through supply fee that covers one bag of stoneware, raku, or Lizella earthenware clay (with an additional cost for porcelain), glazes, and 2,000 cubic inches of firing space. Please note that this fee does not include tools, which students must provide themselves, though additional materials can be purchased at the studio. All work fired at Callanwolde must be created within the Pottery Program studios, as outside work is not permitted.
