Details:
Join the intermediate pottery classes at Callanwolde that focus on the unique soda firing process in a cross-draft kiln. In the Intermediate Handbuilding class (POT 07), students will learn how to manipulate flame movement, kiln placement, and soda introduction to enhance surface development and glaze response. The curriculum includes hands-on experiences with kiln loading, firing preparation, and unloading. Meanwhile, the Intermediate Wheel class (POT 21) will emphasize the effects of soda on lidded vessels and explore the creative potential of flashing slips and glazes. Each class incorporates a $98 supply fee covering one bag of clay (additional costs for porcelain) and firing space, but does not include tools, which students must provide. All work must be produced within the Pottery Program studios, as outside clay is not permitted.
