The Wassaic Project is a non-profit, artist-run arts, community, and art education organization located in Wassaic, New York. Founded in 2008, it utilizes restored historic buildings, including the Maxon Mills grain elevator, to host exhibitions, community events, and artist residencies. The organization aims to foster positive social change through art and education, nurturing connections between artists and the local community to broaden perspectives and promote mutual respect. Its programming includes a year-round competitive residency program, public exhibitions, an annual summer festival, and educational initiatives for over 1,000 students annually, such as after-school clubs and summer camps.
