Join us for our upcoming Historic Clothing Parlor Talk, “Dressed for Daily Life: What People Actually Wore,” featuring a fascinating assortment of rare working garments and informal everyday clothing from the Society’s collection. While wedding gowns, military uniforms, and other ceremonial pieces were often carefully preserved by generations, the clothes people wore in daily life were usually worn out, repurposed, or discarded, making them rare in museum collections everywhere. Come see these remarkable surviving examples of ordinary dress, some dating back to the 18th century, and explore what they reveal about the lives of the people who wore them.
