The Plattsburgh State Art Museum's mission is to collect, study, preserve, exhibit, and interpret original works of art to support the academic goals of the college and enrich the cultural education of the northern New York and southeastern Canadian region. It offers a year-round schedule of changing exhibitions featuring contemporary artists, collections, and traveling exhibitions, as well as faculty and student artwork. The museum houses the most complete collection of Rockwell Kent's works in the country and utilizes a "Museum Without Walls" concept, displaying art across the campus to foster creativity and critical thinking. The museum also provides educational programs for college classes, internships, and K-12 schools, with special gallery talks and tours available by appointment. Admission is free and open to the public.
