Details:
Today we will take a look at the theological and pastoral themes of renewal that guided the Second Vatican Council, a transformative series of meetings from 1962 to 1965.
Convened by Pope John XXIII to undertake an aggiornamento, or "bringing up to date," of the Catholic Church, the Council led to significant changes, including the celebration of Mass in local languages and a more open posture toward the modern world. This lecture will explore the historical context of the Council, the content of its official documents, and the divergent ways in which the Church has wrestled with—and continues to define—the true legacy of the Second Vatican Council.
