Details:
As the sun drops and the water quiets, the night shift in nature begins. This leisurely canoe trip explores Buckley Dunton Lake's sheltered coves and inlets at dusk, with time to pause, listen, and watch for wildlife that's more active after dark. If skies are clear, you may see the full moon rise and reflect across the water as you learn about nocturnal habitats and the animals that use them. Expect a relaxed pace with frequent stops totaling an hour of paddling at the magical hour after sunset. Participants are required to fill out a watercraft use waiver before the program. Please see your program confirmation e-mail for the link. Bring water, insect repellent, weather-appropriate clothing, and footwear that can get wet. Binoculars, snacks plus a dry bag or zip bag for valuables are optional. Mass Audubon policy requires that every participant wears a life vest during the program; you may borrow one from us or bring your own. This program requires the ability to get in and out of the canoe. The boat launch footing may be uneven or slippery. Participants are required to fill out a watercraft use waiver before the program. Please see your program confirmation e-mail for the link.
