Beavers in the Berkshires

Join us for "Beavers in the Berkshires," a naturalist-guided 1.5-mile hike through the wetlands shaped by generations of beavers at Pleasant Valley. Discover areas influenced by beavers while learning to interpret the signs they leave behind. Hear about Pleasant Valley's significant role in beaver conservation and reintroduction in Massachusetts. During the quieter late afternoon hours, you may spot beavers and other wetland wildlife. The hike will begin in front of the red barn facing the wide gravel path, so please dress for the weather and bring binoculars or borrow a pair from us. Consider bringing trekking poles for uneven terrain, as the trail includes a mix of flat ground, gradual slopes, and some hills, with exposed roots, rocks, and potential muddy or slippery spots.
