Beaver Detectives

Join us for "Beaver Detectives," an exciting outdoor adventure where families will take on the role of nature detectives to uncover the clues left by beavers in the landscape. Guided by a naturalist, participants will explore the trails and learn to find, identify, and even 'age' signs of beaver activity, such as gnawed trees, dams, and lodge work. Along the way, you'll discover the crucial role beavers play in shaping wetlands, supporting biodiversity, and improving water quality. There's even a chance to spot a wild beaver at work in Pleasant Valley! The event begins in front of the red barn on the side facing the wide gravel path. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and prepare for a hike covering up to one mile on a mix of gravel-paved and unsurfaced trails, featuring flat ground, gradual slopes, and a few hills. Be mindful of exposed roots, rocks, and potentially muddy conditions from recent weather.
