Focus on Renewal (FOR) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1969, serving the Sto-Rox community in McKees Rocks and Stowe Township. It began as an anti-poverty program focused on the health needs of women and children and has since evolved into an anchor institution providing a wide array of social services. FOR's mission is to support community members of all ages through programs aimed at developing and sustaining healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. Their initiatives connect children, adults, and families with relationships, resources, and opportunities to foster a thriving community. Services include food security, nutrition, early-childhood education (Family Foundations Early Head Start), support groups, mental health services, arts programs at the Father Ryan Arts Center, small business incubation, workforce facilitation, and community development. FOR also operates the Sto-Rox Public Library and a Community Resource Center, working with various partners to ensure high-quality programming is accessible to all residents. Their vision is for citizens to become resilient, contributing members of the community.
