The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is a non-profit arts organization founded in 1984, dedicated to the cultural and economic development of Pittsburgh's Cultural District. This 14-square-block area in downtown Pittsburgh, once a downtrodden district, has been transformed into a vibrant center for arts, culture, food, and community, serving as a national model for urban revitalization through the arts. The Trust manages over one million square feet of real estate within the district, including major theaters like the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, Byham Theater, and O'Reilly Theater, as well as art galleries and public spaces. It presents a wide array of programming, including Broadway shows, dance, music, visual arts exhibitions, and family-friendly events, attracting over 2 million visitors annually. Additionally, the Trust offers extensive arts education and community engagement programs, reaching over 110,000 students and community members each year. It also supports local artists and arts organizations by providing subsidized performance spaces and fostering collaboration. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's efforts have significantly contributed to Pittsburgh's reputation as a revitalized city.
