Quick understanding of our purpose. My son Kodie passed away early morning April 26, 2020. The night before, Kodie got a ride to see his biological aunt and uncle to show them the great man he had become. After 23 foster homes in his 19 years, he described to them his forever home, graduating high school, working on his first car, completing fire training, having a job and being a volunteer fire fighter. With that visit he wore tactical pants, grease on his arms, firefighter shirt and fire champion hat. It was his suit of armor and his pride overflowed. Fifteen minutes after leaving their house, he was fatally thrown from the backseat of a car. Kodie had always tried very hard to protect other children from "the system". And watching him become a man made it clear what to do in his memory. Combined with his desire to help volunteer fire departments the the camaraderie that developed, Kodie's Kids, Tomorrow's Heroes was born. Our Goals: 1.) Assure Out-Of-Home youth who have an interest in a career in Public Safety are able to get the training and education needed without obstacles. 2.) Provide Volunteer Fire Departments focused on youth engagement with updated high quality training mannequins. We are a fund under Indy Public Safety Foundation and based out of Plainfield Indiana.
