Children's Theater Workshop: Space Pirates! Auditions

Ahoy, young adventurers in central South Dakota! Theatre 605 Tours (formerly known as Dakota Players) is searching for the next crew of daring explorers to star in their original musical production, "Space Pirates!" at the Grand Opera House in Pierre.
Auditions will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This production welcomes all ages (K-12 grade), skills and experience levels—no need to have pirate expertise (unless you already do!). No experience or advanced preparation is needed.
Rehearsals: During five days of intensive rehearsals on Monday through Friday, Aug. 10-14, 2026, children will learn the ropes of acting, singing and even dancing, all leading to a thrilling performance set in the cosmos. Plus, older child can learn how to operate the sound and lighting equipment, adding some extra sparkle to the adventure!
Monday, August 10
3:30-5:30 p.m. — Auditions for K-12 grade students.
6-8 p.m. — Rehearsal for older kids (4th grade and up). Students should bring a sack dinner.
Tuesday, August 11
3:30-5:30 p.m. — Rehearsal for K-12 grade students.

Wednesday and Thursday, August 12 and August 13

Synopsis: Join Casey on an adventure from a mundane museum tour to the chaotic realm of alien spaceships and pirates. Captivated by ancient artifacts, Casey is transported to the Zooglebotz spaceship, where aliens gather Earth's items to learn about humanity. When space pirates attack, Casey devises a clever plan to save their alien allies and return home. The story promotes friendship, self-discovery, curiosity and teamwork, complemented by a lively soundtrack of pirate shanties and alien ballads, celebrating the uniqueness of everyone.
