The Shaler North Hills Library is a public library serving Shaler Township, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding areas. Established in 1942, it functions as a community and cultural resource, offering a wide array of materials and services. The library houses over 130,000 titles, including books, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks, and magazines, in addition to providing access to extensive online resources and the collections of other Allegheny County Library Association libraries. Its mission is to champion reading and empower the community through free access to quality resources, outstanding services, and dynamic programs. The library provides public computers with internet access, free Wi-Fi, meeting and study rooms, and various programs for children, teens, and adults. It has received recognition for its community outreach and service, including the National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2012. The library also features a "Library of Things" where patrons can borrow items like board games, outdoor equipment, and Kindle Paperwhites, further enhancing its role in community engagement and shared resources.
