Streets Belong to Me

Kick off Independence Day weekend at Glen Oak Park with Streets Belong to Me, a FREE community celebration that brings people together through active, healthy, and positive experiences. This year’s event features a Polynesian Luau theme, offering families an engaging opportunity to explore Polynesian-inspired activities while connecting with neighbors, community partners, and local organizations. Through interactive experiences, entertainment, games, crafts, and shared community traditions, attendees can discover that culture is more than history. It’s community.
Make the most of your visit by joining us for FriYAY, which includes extended hours at the Peoria Zoo and the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, plus a chance to ride the Glen Oak Express, our exclusive FriYAY mode of transportation around the park. Spend the day exploring the Zoo, discovering hands-on exhibits at the PlayHouse, and taking a train ride through the park during Streets Belong to Me festivities.

Whether you’re spending the day at the Zoo and PlayHouse or joining us for the evening festivities, Glen Oak Park is the place to celebrate community, culture, and connection as we begin the holiday weekend together.
Streets Belong to Me is from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the grassy area between the Zoo and PlayHouse. There is no charge to attend Streets Belong to Me.
FriYAY admission and times:
Zoo is open until 8pm, last admission at 7:30pm. July 3rd is a donation day at the Zoo.
PlayHouse is open until 6pm. Reduced $3 admission for July 3rd.
Train rides on the Glen Oak Express are $3. Reserve your ticket online from 5pm-7:30pm.
