Details:
Join us for an enriching and enjoyable reading journey with our **"1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!"** challenge and a variety of engaging storytime events! This fun program encourages parents and caregivers to read to their newborns, infants, and toddlers, promoting early literacy skills and bonding. Participants aim to read 1,000 books before kindergarten, receiving a special passport to track their progress with stamps for every 100 books.
In addition to our reading challenge, we invite families to our **Summer Playdate** and **Keiki Storytime** events. Children ages 3–8 can explore sensory bins and musical instruments while signing up for the Summer Reading Challenge. Keiki Storytime features themed stories, rhymes, and songs every Wednesday at 10:00 am, offering simple activities afterward for preschoolers, with all children required to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Finally, don't miss our **Baby Storytime** on the first Wednesday of each month. Designed for babies aged 0-24 months, this interactive session includes stories, songs, and a free playtime, lasting about 20-25 minutes.
For all these events, participants needing assistance or modifications are encouraged to contact library staff ahead of time, as all programs are subject to change. Check the HSPLS Events Calendar for updates and pick up your child’s reading packet at our Children’s Reference Desk when registering. Join us in fostering a love for reading!
