Friday Night Fireside Chat

The Friday Night Fireside Chats at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park are returning for summer 2026! From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, join us every Friday night at 8 p.m. in the campground for an informal campfire gathering where park staff will share stories and songs. Enjoy making s'mores and learning about the park in a friendly atmosphere. These interactive programs are free for registered campers and day-use visitors, lasting no more than two hours. Note that activities may change or be canceled due to weather. Key dates for the events include May 22 and 29, June 5, 12, 19, and 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31, August 7, 14, 21, and 28, and September 4. Join us for a memorable evening under the stars!
