Hudson Yards is a new neighborhood on Manhattan's West Side, developed as a large-scale urban redevelopment project. It is a mixed-use area featuring over 100 shops and restaurants, office spaces for major companies, modern residences, significant public art installations, and cultural institutions like The Shed. The development is built on platforms over an active rail yard, encompassing 28 acres with 14 acres of public plazas, gardens, and groves. Hudson Yards aims to be a vibrant destination for residents, workers, and visitors, offering diverse experiences from dining and shopping to cultural events and unique attractions such as the Edge observation deck and The Vessel sculpture. It is recognized as Manhattan's first LEED Gold Neighborhood Development, incorporating sustainable design and infrastructure. The project is a collaboration between the State of New York, the City of New York, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, with Related Companies and Oxford Properties as the primary developers. Its creation involved rezoning, extending subway lines, and significant construction to expand Manhattan's business district westward.
