This 6-panel exhibition from the Gilder Lehrman Institute explores Douglass’s epic life from 1818 to 1895, examining his escape from slavery, his work as an abolitionist, and his relentless fight for equality for all individuals during the Jim Crow era.
Presented in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and its ongoing promise.
