Details:
Join us for the East Bay Square Dance featuring caller Robin Fischer and live music by the Round Top Stringband! No prior experience or partner is necessary, making this a welcoming event for all, including children. Doors open at 7:30 pm, with a beginner lesson from 7:45 to 8:00 pm, followed by square dancing from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. The event is queer-friendly and encourages role-switching, with the caller using inclusive terms for dance roles. Please wear appropriate dance shoes, as stiletto heels are not allowed. Bring your favorite beer or wine, but no hard alcohol, and don’t forget your water bottles!
Admission is $20 for general entry, $15 for Hillside Club or BACDS members, $25 for supporters, and $6 for students or those with low income, with a "pay what you can" option available. Cash and Venmo are accepted at the door, or purchase tickets via Eventbrite.
Musicians from the Round Top Stringband include Nick Lofaro (fiddle), Dan Kluger (banjo), Rowan McCallister (guitar), and Allegra Thompson (bass). An old-time jam for musicians will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 pm before the dance, which is free to attend. This dance, organized by the Bay Area Country Dance Society (BACDS), is typically held on the third Friday of the month—check their website for more details. Come join the fun and enjoy traditional square dancing in a friendly atmosphere!
