Doors 7:30pm Show 8:00pm Singer, guitarist, composer, and producer Juan Villarreal was born in Puerto San Julián, Patagonia, Argentina. He is recognized as one of the leading voices of contemporary tango . Villarreal is an active member of several acclaimed musical projects, including Orquesta El Arranque, Dúo Villarreal Crom, Nidia y su Banda, El Muro Tango, and Cruces del Plata. Since founding Dúo Villarreal Crom with guitarist Patricio Crom in 2010, he has toured extensively throughout Latin America, Europe, and the United States, performing at major festivals and concert halls and helping establish the duo as one of the most celebrated guitar-based tango ensembles of its generation. The duo has released six albums, including D’Arienzo en Guitarras (2022) , Moderno Trovador (2023) , and Live in Zagreb (2024) . Oakland-based guitarist and arranger Scott O’Day is a member of the contemporary tango music scene. He is the artistic director of the acclaimed Scott O’Day Tango Trio . He has performed extensively in North America, South America, and Europe. He is also the director of the San Francisco Community Music Center Tango Ensemble, which serves as an incubator program for the Bay Area tango music scene. Scott studied with many notable tango legends in Buenos Aires, and attended La Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires to complete his formal training.
