About the book
Set in 1880s London, The Betrayal of Cora Wexford follows a 38-year-old American expat who makes a living by painting portraits of the dead. Seeking a fresh start from her past secrets, Cora is introduced to a charming stranger, Miles Vale, and is simultaneously commissioned by a suffragist to paint a series of ordinary women forgotten by the system.
