Details:
Join us for a monthly Work Party series at both Wapato Lake Park and Ursich Park on the 4th Saturday of each month, from 9 am to 12 pm. At Wapato Park, led by Park Steward David, participants can help beautify and restore the ecology near the wetlands by removing invasive non-native plants. Similarly, the Rhododendron Garden Club, under Habitat Steward Joe, invites you to assist with the cleanup and restoration efforts at Ursich Park.
These events welcome participants of all ages and abilities, and no previous experience is required. Tools and training will be provided. Please wear gloves and dress appropriately for the weather, as the events will occur rain or shine. Restrooms are available at Wapato Park, but not at Ursich Park.
What to bring: a water bottle, snack, and gardening gloves (if you have them; spare gloves will be provided). For Wapato Park, meet near the dog park entrance, with free parking available on S Wapato Lake Dr.; for Ursich Park, meet at the North 29th St entrance with street parking available. If you are under 18 and attending without a parent or guardian, please bring a signed Youth Participant Waiver. For questions, contact Kevin Johnson at kevin.johnson@tacomaparks.com for Wapato Park or Chloe Gronlund at chloe.gronlund@parkstacoma.gov for Ursich Park.
