Details:
Join Harbor WildWatch for the Fox Island Boat Launch Low Tide Tour, an engaging and educational beach walk program along the beautiful Salish Sea shorelines. Led by knowledgeable biologists and volunteer naturalists, this hands-on exploration of the intertidal zone allows participants of all ages and skill levels to learn about the incredible diversity of marine life in local waters. Attendees will have opportunities to touch and examine creatures such as sea stars, crabs, and sea anemones, all while discussing their unique adaptations and the challenges facing our ocean ecosystems.
This tour, perfect for families and school groups, lasts approximately 60-90 minutes and takes place in all weather conditions; appropriate attire is essential. Closed-toe shoes, such as rain boots or water shoes, are recommended, along with sunscreen, a water bottle, and snacks if desired. While the program is free, donations of $2 per person or $5 per family are appreciated.
Parking is primitive at the Fox Island Boat Launch, so please watch for potholes and carpool if possible. Participants should meet at the top of the boat launch at the scheduled time, where Harbor WildWatch staff and volunteers will be wearing blue uniforms. Note that restrooms and drinking water are not available. The terrain includes sandy trails, cobble, and gravel, with opportunities for some scrambling over large boulders. Join us to discover the beauty and complexity of our local marine environment! Address: 203 3rd Avenue Fi, Fox Island, WA 98333.
