The Thousand Oaks Library is a city-owned library system that aims to inspire, inform, and engage the community through accessible resources, enriching programs, and welcoming spaces. It comprises the Grant R. Brimhall Library in Thousand Oaks and the Newbury Park Branch Library. The collection boasts over 350,000 items, including books, magazines, music, and movies, available for borrowing, downloading, or streaming. The library offers a wide range of services such as borrower services, circulation, reference assistance, children's and young adult services, special collections, printing, copying, scanning, free Wi-Fi, passport services, and meeting and study spaces. It also hosts the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery at the Newbury Park branch. The library system utilizes a computer database for its catalog and provides access to virtual resources, online classes, and virtual author talks. The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library (FTOL) is a non-profit organization that supports the library by raising funds, increasing awareness, and assisting with materials, programs, and services to promote learning, literacy, and cultural knowledge. They also sell used books to support their endeavors. The Grant R. Brimhall Library, opened in 1982, was expanded in 2006, and the Newbury Park Branch opened in 1991.
