The Texas Well Owner Network, TWON, will host private water well screenings on July 7 for residents in Castro, Hale and Lamb counties. There is no cost for the screenings. Water samples will be screened for contaminants, including total coliform bacteria, E. coli, nitrate-nitrogen, arsenic and salinity. Attendees are asked to follow the water sample instructions available on the TWON website. A water sample form must be completed for each sample submitted. Additional samples may be provided for a comprehensive analysis to be performed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Soil, Water and Forage Testing Laboratory. The submittal form is available online. Water samples can be dropped off on July 7 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the following locations: AgriLife Extension office for Castro County, 205 N. Broadway St., Dimmitt. AgriLife Extension office for Hale County, 225 Broadway, Suite 6, Plainview. AgriLife Extension office for Lamb County, 100 Sixth Drive, Room B-5, Littlefield. A results and educational meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. on July 8 at the Olton Community Building, 406 Second St., Olton. An RSVP for the results meeting is requested by July 2.
