The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a public on the New World Screwworm on June 30 in Johnson City. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to the AgriLife Extension office in Blanco County at 830-868-7167. This meeting will provide residents, livestock producers, wildlife managers, veterinarians, animal owners and interested citizens with accurate information regarding the recent detections of New World screwworm in Texas. Topics include current response efforts, animal movement requirements and what residents can do to protect livestock, pets and wildlife. The meeting will include presentations from veterinary and agricultural subject matter experts, followed by a question-and-answer session. Sonja Swiger, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and professor, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Stephenville, will give a virtual presentation during the meeting.
