The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the 2026 Maverick County Beef and Forage Workshop on July 14 in Eagle Pass. There is a $20 event fee which includes morning refreshments of coffee and doughnuts, as well as sodas, snacks and sandwiches. Participants are asked to RSVP to the AgriLife Extension office in Maverick County at 830-773-5064. Participants will also earn one Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator’s continuing education unit for attending. The workshop will feature a livestock management presentation by Karl Harborth, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension livestock specialist and assistant professor, Department of Animal Science, Corpus Christi. Topics covered will include nutritional supplementation strategies, bull management, external parasite control and other best management practices aimed at improving herd health and productivity. A second presentation will focus on finance and business management for agricultural operations and will be delivered by Priscilla Herrera, Prairie View A&M University Extension community and economic development agent for Maverick County. The business management session is intended to help producers assess and strengthen the financial side of their operations.
