Seminar Details
Scent Work instructors recognize there are a litany of skills they must assess, build and maintain for their canine and human clients to do well in Scent Work. Does the dog have sufficient confidence, independence, problem-solving and tenacity? Can the handler read their dog, perform the mechanical tasks of handling their leash and delivering rewards while keeping track of where they are in the search area?
However, there are large categories of skills which exist entirely outside the context of Scent Work that act as prerequisites for teams to succeed! When these skills are missing, weak or incomplete, the team's progress in Scent Work will suffer.
This seminar is designed to highlight these categories of skills and provide suggestions for how instructors can weave the building and maintaining of these skills into their training programs.
