Details:
Southern California became the heart of American motion pictures beginning in the silent film era. Beyond its deserts, Pacific coastline, and the Sierras, the Santa Monica Mountains emerged as a favored filming location, serving as the backdrop for classics like Gone With the Wind, Tarzan and His Mate, and Planet of the Apes.
Join us in the courtyard at the King Gillette Ranch Visitor Center for an evening visual presentation that explores the film history within what is now the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Please dress in layers to accommodate changing weather conditions and remember to bring a flashlight.
For additional information, please contact the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at 805-370-2301 or samo_interpretation@nps.gov.
