Details:
Join us for two fantastic events that support early literacy and parent-child bonding for children aged 5 and under: **1,000 Books Before Kindergarten** and **Preschool Story Time**.
The **1,000 Books Before Kindergarten** challenge invites parents and caregivers to read a book to their child with the goal of reaching 1,000 books before the child starts kindergarten. This fun program fosters strong early literacy skills and helps develop confidence in young readers. Each participant will receive a special passport to track their progress, receiving stamps for every 100 books read. Registration can be done at the Children’s Reference Desk.
In addition, the **Preschool Story Time** provides an engaging and interactive experience that reinforces pre-reading skills through captivating stories, crafts, songs, and movement activities. Kids will meet entertaining characters like Mr. Alligator while exploring other programs available for young learners. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend along with their children.
For both events, those who need auxiliary aids or services for effective communication should contact library staff in advance, ideally 48 hours before. Please check the HSPLS Events Calendar for any updates, as all programs are subject to change. This initiative is proudly sponsored by the Friends of the Library Kapolei.
