Details:
Join us for a meaningful evening of service with Second Helpings as we help fight hunger in Central Indiana! Volunteers will support Second Helpings’ mission of transforming donated food into nutritious meals for neighbors in need.
This is a hands-on group service opportunity where volunteers may help with food preparation, meal packaging, and other kitchen-based tasks that directly support local partner organizations. It is a great way to give back, connect with others, and make a tangible impact in the Indianapolis community.
This opportunity is not limited to Ivy Tech HOSA members — anyone interested in serving the community is welcome to register. Spots are limited, and all participants must complete registration in advance.
Dates: Tuesday, July 7 and Tuesday, July 28Time: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PMLocation: Second Helpings, 1121 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202Commitment: One evening shiftRegistration Step 1: secondhelpings.galaxydigital.com/user/register/Registration Step 2: After creating your volunteer profile, sign up for the 07/07 here or the 07/28 here.
Important Registration Note: Registration is required for all participants and usually takes about 5–10 minutes. Volunteers will create a profile under the Group Volunteer Track and complete two waivers before joining the team shift.
What to Wear: Long pants, closed-toe non-skid shoes with socks, and a T-shirt or long sleeve shirt are required. Please do not wear tank tops, open-toed shoes, dangling jewelry, headphones, or clothing you would not want to stain. Volunteers should also bring a baseball cap or hat if they have one, though hair nets are available.
Parking & Entry: Please park in the designated areas and avoid spots labeled CONCENTRA. Enter through Main Door #1 and ring the doorbell.
Optional Donation: Second Helpings is currently in need of peanut butter and jelly for sandwiches. Volunteers are encouraged, but not required, to bring a jar of peanut butter and/or jelly to help continue feeding those in need even after the shift.
