Details:
Barbara Newton is a painter and collagist living close to the natural visual delights of rural New Hampshire. She seeks compositions in nature that are visually striking because of color, shape, or texture. She examines these found compositions, distills and reorders them and in the process deals with numerous levels of reality and abstraction. As a collagist Barbara uses Japanese type papers, some of which are highly textured. Her technique is to approach the subject matter in a painterly way creating shades, tones and textures by layering the papers and shredding the fibers to create lines. Her work is represented by Matt Brown Fine Art in Lyme Stephanie Reininger has been making art all her life. She majored in art in college, but it was later when her children were older that she chose watercolor because it was easy to do amidst the laundry and cooking. Her subject matter is rendered loosely, recording her life and travels. She has lived in many places, teaching and painting for the love of it. Anne Hartmann loves watercolor, with its luminosity, intensity and its often surprising effects. She enjoys painting scenes which have meanings, and likes experimenting with different subjects, too. She participated in various group shows; painting with teachers such as the late Larry Howard and with Robert O’Brien has been helpful and enjoyable.
