108|Contemporary presents the work of Tulsa based mixed media artist and architect Aaron Jones in Big MOdels. On view August 7 – September 19, 2026, this exhibition explores linkages between our ecological and architectural legacies through the thematic capacities of experimental printmaking techniques. Exhibition Opening: Friday, August 7, 2026 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm Artist Talk: Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm ASL interpretation provided Big MOdels is a series of five large Study Models (or little architectures) which mash-up representation, scale, and surface. Typically, Study Models are playfully constructed exploratory objects which reveal and isolate latent character, often in ways which were not initially preconceived. In Architecture, as Study Models synthesize and translate into Buildings, their playful character can give way to the practical (and very real) concerns of building performance, warrantable systems, adjacent context, and beyond. The work in Big MOdels aims to carry the study model character forward into larger-than-typical scales of little architectures. As a result, spatial phenomenologies and occupancies can occur which would otherwise be lost to a conventional “scaling up.” These ideas have been developed through a series of workshops at Colorado State, UKy, RISD, and OK Contemporary.
