The North Valleys Library, a branch of the Washoe County Library System, serves communities east of Peavine Mountain, including Golden Valley, Lemmon Valley, Stead, Red Rock, and Cold Springs, as well as visitors from Sun Valley. Established in 1973 as the Stead Library, it moved to its current location in 1988 and was renamed. The library offers a wide range of materials including books, magazines, DVDs, and music CDs. It provides essential services such as free Wi-Fi, printing, photocopying, fax services, and public computers. Additionally, it features a technology and business center, free legal kiosk access, and Chromebooks for in-library use. The North Valleys Library is committed to lifelong learning and community engagement, hosting various events and programs for all ages, including family reading time, study support, collaborative events, senior activities, and creative group meetups. It also offers school support through outreach services and hosts educational activities. The library has undergone renovations to enhance its facilities, including an expanded youth library and spaces for collaborative work and individual study.
