Details:
Join us for the Nevada History: On The GO! series at Nevada Sunset Winery on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This month, we celebrate Independence Day with two engaging lectures as part of our NHS Artown Talks. Although the Nevada Historical Society building is temporarily closed for renovations, you can still enjoy these fascinating insights into Nevada and Reno's history.
From 1-2 PM, attend "Lexington, Concord and Nevada: The Militia Tradition and its Evolution in the Silver State," presented by Emerson Marcus, Public Affairs Officer for the Nevada National Guard. He will explore the evolution of Nevada's military force and its historical significance.
Then, from 2:30-3:30 PM, join Caleb S. Cage, author and historian, for "Nevada in Literary Fiction of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars." This presentation will delve into how Nevada has been represented in literature stemming from these significant conflicts.
Come celebrate America’s birthday and spark your interest in the captivating history of our state! The event is free, and all ages are welcome. We thank Nevada Sunset Winery for hosting our summer lecture series at 415 East 4th Street, Unit B, Reno, NV 89512.
