Details:
Are you getting serious about horses? Do you want to practice your riding skills before summer camp? This is a great opportunity to do just that! Girl Scouts are invited to this small group lesson where you will get to know some of the Gallahue horses and barn staff. We will take a deeper dive grooming, saddling, and bridling, as well as proper riding form and control. Other topics that may be covered are parts of a horse, parts of a saddle, terminology, and ground work. This program will follow Safety Activity Checkpoints (SACs). For more information about GSUSA SACs, reference the website here. Girls must wear long pants, jeans preferred, and closed toed shoes, riding boots preferred. No crocs, flip flops, or sandals. Location: Camp Gallahue, Morgantown Notes: Since this is an in-person event there is a strict event capacity. We recommend keeping your registration to girl/adult ratios outlined in the Activity Safety Checkpoints to allow for maximum girl participation. All attending individuals both girls and adults must be registered in advance. Each troop is responsible for providing enough adults to meet Activity Safety Checkpoints, girls registering individually should also be accompanied by an adult. This event is for registered Girl Scouts and girls interested in trying out the world of Girl Scouting and the opportunities offered through our program. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate tagalongs at this event. Girl Scout Juniors will complete step 2, 4, & 5 of the Horseback Riding badge. No badge or patch is provided at this program.
