The Nantahala Regional Library (NRL) is the oldest regional library in North Carolina and one of the first in the United States, established in 1937. Headquartered in Murphy, North Carolina, it serves Cherokee, Clay, and Graham counties with branches in each. The NRL offers a collection of 100,000 items, including books, movies, and music, and provides free internet access. In 2022, the library joined the N.C. Cardinal system, significantly expanding its resource access. The library also offers a "Wander Pass" for free admission to the WNC Nature Center and provides access to online resources like Ancestry Library Edition.
