Details:
Join us for an exciting opportunity to enhance Chatuge’s shores! Volunteers will plant approximately 1,600 native plants and shrubs, such as water willow and buttonbush, for fish habitat in shady coves.
Wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers OK), long pants, and work gloves that can get muddy. Bring water, food, and sunscreen in a bag on the boat (and make sure you have a towel & dry clothes to keep in the car for the ride back!).
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will bring planting tools and personal flotation devices for the short boat ride to the site. It’s a day of fun, restoration, and a sneak peek into the best angling spots on Chatuge. Hope to see you there!
Volunteering opportunities are available in two separate 3-hour slots: the morning shift will be 9:30 – 12:30, and the afternoon shift will be 12:30 – 3:30, with a total of about 10 volunteers needed each shift. Interested participants should email tvainfo@tva.gov with the subject line “Chatuge Tree Planting,” including their name and contact information.
