Details:
Join us for two engaging writing workshops at the LOOP Arts & Culture Center (805 Mahoning Ave) on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm, starting August 4 and continuing until September 8.
The "Writing Workshop: Newcomers to the Mahoning Valley" is an inclusive space for individuals new to the Mahoning Valley to document their diverse experiences across cultures and languages. Participants can share family histories, reflect on personal journeys, celebrate cultural traditions, or explore creative outlets in a supportive community that values every story. Registration is required and no prior writing experience is necessary.
Simultaneously, the "Veterans Writing Workshop" offers veterans a dedicated environment to explore their personal stories and creativity through writing. This workshop encourages group readings, discussions, and thoughtful prompts to develop writing skills and foster connections with fellow veterans. While it focuses on creative writing, it is not intended as mental health treatment or counseling.
Both workshops are free and open to the public, but registration is necessary. For more information and to register, please visit: www.lityoungstown.org/. Session leaders for these workshops are Bella Davis, pursuing her M.A. in English at YSU and involved with the Wick Poetry Center, and Sydney Stalnecker, a writer and adjunct instructor at YSU. Lit Youngstown is a literary arts nonprofit committed to promoting writing and storytelling in the community.
