First Wednesday Reader Series presents Akron poets Steve Brightman & Theresa Göttl Brightman, Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00pm at the Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. Open mic to follow. This reading will be downstairs in the Trophy Room, accessible only by stairs. Meagan Albani will provide ASL interpretation. The First Wednesday Reader Series receives support from POP! Art Books Culture.
Steve Brightman has published numerous poetry collections including The Circus of His Bones and The Wild Gospel of Careening and Other Sermons. He firmly believes that there are only two seasons: winter and baseball. He lives with his wife, Theresa, and their green parrot.
Theresa Göttl Brightman‘s poems have appeared in many online and print publications, two chapbooks, and one full-length collection, as well as on Akron’s 91.3 WAPS The Summit and 89.7 WOSU Columbus. She won the title of Grand Slam Champion of the Northeast Ohio national slam team in 2012, and competed at the National Poetry Slam in Charlotte, NC and at the Rustbelt regional slam in Columbus.
