Mid-Hudson Library System

Poughkeepsie, NY, USA

The Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS) is a cooperative public library system chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. It is dedicated to strengthening local library services and saving tax dollars by working with sixty-six member libraries in the Mid-Hudson region. MHLS provides essential resources and multiplies funds to enable member libraries to serve patrons effectively, keeping communities strong and connected. The system ensures the public's right to free access to information, facilitates economical resource sharing, and promotes professional and inclusive library services in partnership with its independent member libraries. They offer services such as an Integrated Library System and Online Catalog, a delivery service for member libraries, and coordinated purchasing of databases, eResources, and IT. Additionally, MHLS provides support for library sustainability through state-mandated programs and consulting and continuing education for member libraries, acting as a clearinghouse for best practices and trend spotting.
