The Concord Free Public Library's mission is to inspire lifelong learning and promote personal enrichment by connecting the community with information, ideas, culture, unique historical resources, and each other. Established in 1873 through the generosity of William Munroe, the library operates through a public-private partnership between the Town of Concord and the Concord Free Public Library Corporation, a non-profit funded by private philanthropy. The library serves as a community center for information, culture, entertainment, and education, offering a wide range of literary, educational, and maker programs for all ages. It provides exceptional access to literature and information through its collections, Special Collections, Minuteman Network, and evolving technology. Recent renovations have enhanced its facilities, including expanded children's and teen areas, workshop spaces, and meeting rooms, while preserving historic elements. The library is committed to serving the informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs of all patrons, upholding principles of free and open access, intellectual freedom, and inclusion.
